About
Catherine Repton
BA(Hons), PGDip, MBACP (Accred.), MUKRP

“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.”
I'm Catherine Repton, a BACP-accredited counsellor and certified EMDR practitioner, working with adults individually to help them understand themselves more fully and move through periods of difficulty with support.
My training and experience span a range of therapeutic approaches, which means our work together isn't limited to one way of thinking about your situation. Some clients want a more structured, practical space (which CBT can offer); others need to process something specific, like trauma or loss (where EMDR or psychodynamic work may help); others simply want room to reflect on who they are and where they're headed.
Whatever brings you to therapy, my aim is the same: to offer a confidential, warm and genuinely non-judgemental space in which you can be honest — with me, and with yourself.

Working together
How we will work together
I offer both open-ended and time-limited therapy, depending on what suits you. We'll usually begin with an initial consultation, where we can talk through what's brought you to therapy, answer any questions you have, and get a sense of whether we're a good fit to work together. From there, sessions typically take place weekly, at the same time each week, in a private and confidential setting.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality
Everything discussed in our sessions is confidential, in line with the BACP Ethical Framework. The only exceptions are the rare situations where I have serious concern for your safety or the safety of others, which I would always aim to discuss with you first wherever possible.
